About the captain

Khanyisile Molaba is an award-winning South African entrepreneur, community developer and media specialist who boasts a wealth of experience within the media and communications industry. She has worked as a news reporter, digital editor and producer for television, radio and print. She was the producer of 'Tonight with Tim Modise' and 'The Modise Network' on eNCA and Soweto TV, where she worked closely with South African veteran broadcaster Tim Modise to produce the thought-provoking television shows. She is currently a show producer at Newzroom Afrika, a South African 24-hour digital satellite television news channel broadcast across Africa on DStv.

In 2020, Khanyisile launched Dynasty Brandworx, a 100% African Youth-Led Digital Servicing, Marketing and Creative Communications business. The business was voted one of South Africa’s Top Gender-Empowered companies in 2021 by Standard Bank and Topco Media. Overtime, the business has proven to be a viable and sustainable career development platform for young professionals and creatives within the fields of journalism, marketing, communications, tech and design.

Khanyisile also runs an NPO and community programmes aimed at safeguarding the interests of children, teens and youth, through its partnership networks within the public, private and civil sectors. Through the aid and support of the national and international partners, the organization has ensured the holistic and educational support of over 200 academically-excelling underprivileged children and teens, while leveraging resources to capacitate and upskill them in coding, entrepreneurship and digital creativity.

It is these initiatives that have earned the UK’s Tech Hub’s backing. Khanyisile was also recognised by the UK High Commission in 2021 for her work on youth development and advancement in Africa

Khanyisile is a mentor on the All4Youth Sub-Saharan Africa programme, a collaborative alliance spearheaded by various multinational companies to create and implement empowerment-based programmes for youth in Africa. Under the programme, Khanyisile has provided guidance and mentorship to young women in Nigeria, Malawi, South Africa and Namibia.

She is the head of the media and communications committee at the Women's Empowerment Network of South AfricaKhanyisile was recently recognized and named an Unsung Hero by Sunday World and African Bank, in honor of her contributions and efforts in the fight against youth unemployment and digital illiteracy in South Africa and Africa. This was also an effort to recognize and acknowledge her strides, potential and growth in business, philanthropy and entrepreneurship.

Khanyisile is supported by The Graça Machel Trust (Women Creating Wealth Programme) through its partnerships with the Visa Foundation and FASSET, Future Females and Edelman Africa as well as The Academy for Women Entrepreneurs; an initiative by the U.S. Mission to South Africa and the Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF). She is also a Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) 2024 fellow.
